Certified Laughter Yoga Leader Training

A great time was had by two new Certified Laughter Yoga Leaders Christine Glenn and Joel Fox last weekend.

Thanks to Christine for offering her wonderful home for the two day training.

We focused on fun, skills of a leader and jazz.

In other words, Chris and Joel learned the classical way of leading a Laughter Yoga class as well as how to improvise, access the child like nature and play by making up new laughter “impulses” or exercises.

Truth be told, they taught me. Both Joel and Chris are awesome at just playing. It was so much fun.

In fact, it was so great, I want to do it again. Two other people have expressed interest in getting certified, that we will have another training this summer.

If you want to consider it, let me know by return email. I will send you details as we figure out when and where. Email me with “Yes, I am interested in CLYL training. Tell me more” in the subject line.

Summer Laughter Schedule

You can always refer to the website to find out the current schedule around town. (For Kate Roxborough’s classes, phone the centres or Kate directly to find out start times. She has so many, I have a hard time keeping up. Kate is s busy laugher!)

Victoria Laughter Yoga Schedule:

As of this writing,Esquimaltclasses will be on holidays for the months of July and August. Starting up again in the fall.

Gracie’s classes are on in the park behind Fernwood Community Centre (yes, outdoors!) 7pm Thursdays.

Gene’s Monday morning 10:30am classes continue at Westside Yoga until end of June. He has been looking for another venue and I will advise when I find out where.

Miho’s Saturday 11am classes continue on through summer.

Laughter Yoga Questionnaire

For those who have been coming to my classes in Esquimalt andJames Bay, I have a question and would appreciate feedback.

We have a September 22nd start date forJames BayCommunitySchool. Thursday nights 7:30-8:30 pm.

ForEsquimalt, the weeknight class moves to Tuesday at 7:15-8:15pm.

There is a question about Saturday morning 10am class, whether to continue it.

So, the questions is:

If you intend to come laughing inEsquimaltin the fall, (Choose one, or both if you intend to come to both)

___ I prefer to come Tuesday night

___ I prefer to come Saturday morning

Many, many thanks for responding by Thursday June 23rd.

For Leaders: If there is enough interest in Saturday morning class, would you want to lead during the fall sessions which go from Sep 17 to Dec 3??? Let me know.

If so, there a few small hoops to jump through for Esquimalt Rec. Nothing onerous, just needs a little time to set up.

About Victoria Laughter Yoga Club

Victoria Laughter Yoga Club is affiliated with Dr. Madan Kataria's School of Laughter Yoga. We laugh: Just ‘cause: ☺It feels good ☺Fights cancer* ☺Conquers stress ☺Improves circulation ☺Smooths out wrinkles ☺Is efficient exercise** ☺Slows the aging process ☺Boosts immunity(fight colds) ☺Oxygen to brain=clear thinking * Dr. Otto Warburg, President, Institute of Cell Physiology, Nobel Prize Winner (twice) says: “Deep breathing techniques increase oxygen to the cells and are the most important factors in living a disease-free and energetic life. When cells get enough oxygen, cancer will not and cannot occur.” (My bolding) **Dr. W. Fry states that 10 minutes of hearty laughter is equal to 30 minutes or rowing or jogging.(Journal of General Psychology, 1938) Laughter Yoga goes beyond just laughter. Founder Dr. Madan Kataria has developed techniques to stimulate childlike playfulness, to adjust the aerobic and stretching component, and to promote emotional flow and release. Laughter Yoga can improve your physical health, release negative thoughts and emotions and get in touch with your spiritual nature. It helps us to develop an attitude of forgiveness, generosity, compassion and helpfulness while actively seeking the happiness of others. Combined, these principles can provide a powerful life-changing experience that we call the inner spirit of laughter. Laughter Yoga Clubs are non-political, non-religious, non-profit. There are a number of clubs in the Victoria area. Email for more info and current schedule:
