Laughter: The Newsletter

Valentine’s Day and time to Feel The Love.
Here is an exercise from Heart Math that allows you to feel the love that flows in your heart. It is a two minute meditation. Ready?
Hold one hand on your heart, breathe easily and effortlessly and say out loud: “Love, Peace, Compassion.” You can continue to say it silently while holding your hand on your heart, smiling internally and breathing easily. Occasionally, you may want to take a deeper breath and release it. As you breathe in, just feel the love, peace and compassion energy filling your heart. As you breathe out, send that same energy to the far reaches of the universe.
Just two minutes has been shown to give your immune system a boost for up to six hours. Conversely, the Heart Math Institute found that thinking negative thoughts can depress your immune system for up to six hours. So, why not choose to think Love, Peace and Compassion for two minutes. It just may help keep colds and flus away too.
That is your Valentine’s Day present from Victoria Laughter Yoga Club.
Tomorrow’s Esquimalt Laughter Yoga Club will celebrate the love with a Valentine’s theme. A day late but, hey, we celebrate love all week…throughout the year, really.
The second way is to access the 15 minute laughter video on my site and laugh along with me as often as you like. I found that daily laughter develops neural pathways so I can let go of any “negative” reactions to all kinds of events: drivers cutting me off, people yelling at me, anxieties about money (that’s a biggie), even anger at neighbours who wake me up at 1 in the morning. (I admit that one is tougher, but I am working on it.)
Here is my laugher video and you will note it comes with an email course focusing on health tips: http://joyenergyandhealth.com/ You will see it on the right side of the page as the “Authentic Joy” video. Let me know how it goes.
News from HOHO DOJO
Just to let everybody know that since Monday Feb. the 11th is a statutory holiday, we will not be able to have a Laughter Yoga meeting that week. We will resume the following week on the 18th of Feb. Meanwhile, Christian Verrier will fill in for me on Monday the 4th of February while I am out of town. For those of you familiar with Christian you know what a wonderful Laughter Yoga Leader he is. Christian has been a recent regular of the HoHo DoJo and I am grateful that he has agreed to fill in for me while I am away. Please come out on the 4th of February to enjoy his joyous, playfulness and energetic approach to Laughter Yoga.
If you are unfamiliar with Christian let me fill you in briefly. Two weeks ago he brought his wife and two young sons to the Monday evening session. His oldest son, Samuel age six, was one of the highlights of the evening, and while it was his first time to a Laughter Yoga group he was not unfamiliar with what we do. You see, Christian has been laughing with his boys using Laughter Yoga techniques at home for quite a while now. Last week Christian told me that Samuel so enjoyed the group that he not only wants to come back as often as possible, but is planning to do a Laughter session with his First Grade class as part of a class assignment. I cannot wait to see the video Christian plans to shoot of this momentous occasion.
I think you are getting the picture of how Laughter is a big part of Christians’ everyday life!!!

Laughter Yoga is the unique concept that we can laugh for no reason at all.
* Laughter exercises send endorphins (feel good hormones) to the brain.
* Yoga breathing: more oxygen to brain and body equals:
* Feeling healthier and more energetic.
* Sessions are led by a certified Laughter Yoga Leader.
* Non-profit, non-religious, non-political
