Many other benefits will likely bubble up to the surface as we explore this with “The Inner Spirit of Laughter” as Laughter Yoga Founder Dr. Madan Kataria calls it.

Are you ready to challenge yourself to more heart opening?

Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher Gene Furbee channelled this idea. Here is his explanation:

Greetings Laughter Yoga Leaders

I have been thinking for a while about how to engage lightheartedness out in the world. People come to laughter yoga sessions and then we never see each other again unless it is at one of the clubs. Attendance over the years has been sporadic or for short bursts of enthusiasm and then it may be years before people are heard of again.

Many clubs have disappeared because of the difficulty of sustaining members. I have pressed on over the years when attendance dwindled to one or two people and waited for people to return, mainly because doing a group at least once a week has been so valuable for me personally.

I would like to propose a way to bring lightheartedness out into the world by those of us who have been part of the experience of learning to laugh for no reason.

About three years ago I helped out with a booth for laughter yoga at a senior’s event. Spontaneously I put on a red nose and walked around simply talking to everyone I met. It was the most fun I have had going out in public and freely engaging people in conversation.

Recently while contemplating doing a laughter yoga session for a community event I began to think about how it would be if I ask others who know how to play in a benign, spontaneous and lighthearted way, to join me. Thus THE GREAT BIG RED NOSE QUESTION was born.

…Matti, Soren, Fred and I met for an hour and began to explore how much fun it would be to put on a GREAT BIG RED NOSE and walk around engaging people in conversations about things that may or may not be important to them in the spirit of lightheartedness and playfulness. We could simultaneously hand out RED NOSES to people willing to go on our Laughter Yoga Victoria email list which could be a valuable way to attract new people to our clubs.

This could be a wonderful way for us as leaders to get together and play at events that take place throughout the year in Victoria and for people in our clubs to join us out in the world as we extend the generosity of lightheartedness to others. As our group of four began to talk about the idea the possibilities seemed endless for how this kind of spontaneous playfulness could extend into the community.

We would like to make our debut at the Creatively United for the Planet event on April 26th where we will also hold a laughter yoga session with all the new and old BIG RED NOSES.

Check your emails for updates.

Sound like this could be a plan for your life?

Could it be just the thing to lighten up your spring and bring more spring into your step?

If so, lighten up your schedule and MAKE room. (When Kermit the Frog tried to cut off Miss Piggy on his program by saying there was no more time, Miss Piggy replied: “Kermit: MAKE TIME!”) Hee hee

So I invite you to MAKE TIME for the most important function of joy, laughter and smiles in your life by emailing me with “I AM A COMMITTED NOSE” in the subject line. That means you committing yourself to show up and have fun at Creatively United for the Planet on Saturday, April 26th.

When we know how many commitments we have, we will know how many clipboards to buy.

If you are not sure, please let me know your possibility of showing up on a scale of 1-10. This will also help us know about how many clipboards we need.

1 means No or not likely

10 means YES, barring major catastrophe.

5 is on the fence…and the rest you can figure out.

If you are not sure yet, let me know

Play and joy are critically important elements of a healthy and happy life.

Come play with us. Interact with others, Serve others by bringing becoming an Ambassador of Lightness of Being. Come see how it can positively impact your joy and happiness.

About Victoria Laughter Yoga Club

Victoria Laughter Yoga Club is affiliated with Dr. Madan Kataria's School of Laughter Yoga. We laugh: Just ‘cause: ☺It feels good ☺Fights cancer* ☺Conquers stress ☺Improves circulation ☺Smooths out wrinkles ☺Is efficient exercise** ☺Slows the aging process ☺Boosts immunity(fight colds) ☺Oxygen to brain=clear thinking * Dr. Otto Warburg, President, Institute of Cell Physiology, Nobel Prize Winner (twice) says: “Deep breathing techniques increase oxygen to the cells and are the most important factors in living a disease-free and energetic life. When cells get enough oxygen, cancer will not and cannot occur.” (My bolding) **Dr. W. Fry states that 10 minutes of hearty laughter is equal to 30 minutes or rowing or jogging.(Journal of General Psychology, 1938) Laughter Yoga goes beyond just laughter. Founder Dr. Madan Kataria has developed techniques to stimulate childlike playfulness, to adjust the aerobic and stretching component, and to promote emotional flow and release. Laughter Yoga can improve your physical health, release negative thoughts and emotions and get in touch with your spiritual nature. It helps us to develop an attitude of forgiveness, generosity, compassion and helpfulness while actively seeking the happiness of others. Combined, these principles can provide a powerful life-changing experience that we call the inner spirit of laughter. Laughter Yoga Clubs are non-political, non-religious, non-profit. There are a number of clubs in the Victoria area. Email for more info and current schedule:
