Heavy Breathing Wednesdays. Victoria Laughter News January 25, 2017

Laughter Yoga is a one hour “workout.”

Really, better to call it a “playout.”

We play more than work.

But there is a goodly amount of movement.

Some may call that exercise.

I call it “Heavy Breathing.” Ha ha.

In between laughter exercises, we take deep breaths.

That is to fully oxygenate all the cells of our bodies.

That may be one of the reasons why we feel so blissed out after.

It has been said the laughter puts you in the same state as meditation.

The breathing may help with that.

See the Featured Article on breathing.

Hope you can join us at one of our classes.

Maybe tonight at 5.30. Does that work for you?

See here.

It Takes Mindfulness to Breathe Slow and Deep

Breathing slow and deep also brings on mindfulness.

This “mindfulness” thing is popular.

It’s just a word.

What it means to me is a state of calm and connectedness.

A feeling of being connected to others and perhaps all the universe.

Breathing slowly and deeply generates that sensation of calm.

The good news is we can choose to breathe deeply and slowly…at any time.

The trick is to be able to call on that skill even in the most challenging moments.

When we get bad news. When we are under attack, physically or verbally. When we are down in the dumps.

You can try it now. Breathe deeply in, slowly. Breathe deeply out, slowly. Repeat.

Doing it as little as three times if often enough to calm me down. Perhaps it may work for others too.

You can practice while walking. Some call that walking meditation. It may slow down the walking. It may make walking more enjoyable. Perhaps even blissful.

That’s the ticket…now you’re in gear.

If you remember to smile and keep good posture too, well, that’s a bonus.

Keep on keepin’ on.

Laughter Yoga is the unique concept that we can laugh for no reason at all.
* Laughing is FUN

* We start out with laughter exercises

> That sends feel good hormones to the brain.

* We  intersperse with yoga type deep breathing

> That sends more oxygen to the brain and body
* We add child-like playfulness

> That opens up our creativity and intuition

* We do “Laughter Meditation”

> Unlike any other meditation, way fun

* We finish with some relaxation routines.

* Sessions are led by a Certified Laughter Yoga Leader.
>  Non-profit, non-religious, non-political.

* Free or by donation

When cells get enough oxygen, cancer will not and cannot occur.” (My bolding) **Dr. W. Fry states that 10 minutes of hearty laughter is equal to 30 minutes or rowing or jogging.(Journal of General Psychology, 1938) Laughter Yoga goes beyond just laughter. Founder Dr. Madan Kataria has developed techniques to stimulate childlike playfulness, to adjust the aerobic and stretching component, and to promote emotional flow and release. Laughter Yoga can improve your physical health, release negative thoughts and emotions and get in touch with your spiritual nature. It helps us to develop an attitude of forgiveness, generosity, compassion and helpfulness while actively seeking the happiness of others. Combined, these principles can provide a powerful life-changing experience that we call the inner spirit of laughter. Laughter Yoga Clubs are non-political, non-religious, non-profit. There are a number of clubs in the Victoria area. Email for more info and current schedule:
